My musical journey
Tripti Sharma is a promising Indian classical and semi-classical vocalist, deeply rooted in the rich traditions of the Banaras Gharana. This ancient and distinguished gharana of Indian classical music is renowned for its technicalities and profound expressions. Tripti's diverse repertoire includes Khayal, Thumri, Tappa, Dadra, Kajri, Holi, Jhoola, Chaiti, and Bhajan. As a performer, her compositions revolve around themes of spirituality, peace, love, and devotion.
Hailing from the beautiful brass city of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, Tripti's musical journey began at a very young age under the tutelage of Pandit Brij Gopal Vyas Ji, who provided her foundational understanding of Indian classical music and bhajans.
In pursuit of academic excellence, Tripti moved to Delhi, where she earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Indian Classical Music from Delhi University. Her doctoral research explored the profound contributions of the legendary musician and Bharat Ratna awardee, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi Ji. Tripti also holds the Sangeet Prabhakar from Prayagraj, India, in Music Vocal, Instrument (Tabla), and Kathak Dance.
A significant turn in her musical journey came when she began delving into the intricate nuances of music with her esteemed guru, Ms. Sunanda Sharma Ji, an illustrious representative of the Banaras Gharana. Embracing the age-old guru-shishya parampara, Tripti lived with her guru, accompanying her to performances across India and abroad, thereby imbibing the essence of this rich ancient musical heritage.
Tripti's unwavering commitment to music extends beyond the stage. As a Guest Assistant Professor at Kalindi College, Delhi University, she shares her knowledge and experience with aspiring musicians. She is also a graded artist on All India Radio (AIR). Her musical prowess has garnered appreciation and accolades.
Tripti, with extensive traditional training, promotes Indian music through performances, cross-cultural collaborations, and workshops. Based in Stockholm, Sweden, she has performed on stages around the world and is recognized for her musical renditions.
